Our E.S.L. class began a discussion this week about the future. I showed them this video from Carl Fisch called “Did You Know?” We had a good discussion about it and then I asked the students to write a blog post about what they thought the world would be like in 10 years. They weren’t given any parameters; some of them wrote about global warming and some of them wrote about flying cars. Hope you enjoy.

Contained within these pages is the writing of 6th, 7th, and 8th grade ESL students from Mr. Horne’s class at Central Middle School. In their blogs students will talk about themselves, speak their minds, and comment about the world around them. While writing, students will also learn important reading, writing and syndication skills that will benefit them in this digital world. We aim to follow a set of rules to maintain the quality of our blog. Please comment on student’s blogs, but in doing so, please help us maintain the academic nature of this project.

I think that 10 from now the world will be different.

This year there are many adventures, but did you ever wonder what ten years from now will be like?  Will time be different, will the animals evolve, will we evolve?  I wonder If there will be a new language or if we will even exist.  Will our planet exist?

What I think will happen is that the planet will be different.  Maybe there could be a transportation device or a holograph.

Maybe the cars will fly like everybody says, but what I think is that everything will be the same except the technology…who knows?

I think that 10 years from now the world will be different.

I think that cars will fly in the sky and have NOS.  The cars can talk back to people and animals.  I think they will go to other planets and the sun.

The cars will go faster than other cars.  They will be the fastest cars in world.  They could go underwater and in vocanoce and it use water.  The car will go more than 400 mph.

I think that 10 years from now the world will be different .

I think that there will be new cars, like cars that can change into houses.  The cars can talk to people.  They can change into robot.  They can say what you said but, back words, and they can do what the people and the animals do today.

I think that they will put bathrooms in the cars.  They will make the bathrooms so they can go with you where you go.  They will put bathrooms in every place.

They will make bikes that can fly.  They might make bikes that can fold themselves.  They can go back to the past and the future.  They may change to cars, vans, or trucks.

I think that 10 years from now the world will be different.

We are going to have some new cars maybe they will fly and it will be easier for people to go to other places and have fun with their families.

In 10 years we are going to have some new schools for the new people the are interested in school and they are going to have some new classrooms.

In 10 years I well be professional player in soccer.  I will be teaching people so they can be beter and play in the new stadium.

I think that 10 years from now the world will be different. There will be cars that fly, and there will be cars under water.

The jobs will be different, people could work in the outer space. People would be flying, and birds will be giving people rides.

Schools will be different the teachers will be nicer and they will let us have cell phones in class.

Cell phones would be better we could see videos and we could wear them. Scooters will be able to fly.

My name is Ulises.  I’m 14 years old and I’m a boy.  I live in Milton-Freewater.  I like to play soccer, ride my bike, and listen to music.

I have one brother, he is 17 years old.  I have 3 sisters, one is 19 years old, one is 11 years old, and one is 6 years old.  My brother likes to play soccer.  I live with my mom and my dad and my two little sisters.  My friends are Juan, Jose, Jose, Salvador, Nicolas, Sergio, Raul, Franky, and Armando.

I like to play soccer and to play Xbox.  I have two dogs and one bird.  My favorite classes are PE and Mrs. Jacksons class.  My favorite singers are Lil Meast, Mr. Comply, Lil Tetly, Lil Rob, Shop Boyz, and Lil One.  My favorite food is pizza.  My favorite sport is soccer.  My favorite seasons are summer and winter.

If I had a million dollars I would go to Mexico.  I am really good at soccer, football, Xbox, golf, and baseball.

Dear Santa,

I have been good this year.  I really want Smakdown vs. Raw 2008.

If I had one wish, it would be to give everyone a present.

I think Christmas is really about family.

I relly want to know if I am an elf becuase I am short.

Does it take forever to deliver presents to all the houses?  Are you realy fat and jolly?

My favorite holiday is Christmas.

Dear Santa Clause,

I have been nice this year.  Please bring me lots of presents.

How do you go down the chimney?  How do you make your sleigh fly?

For Christmas, I would like a PSP, an MP3, a game for my PSP, a remote centrol car, a laptop, a computer, an Xbox 360, a PS3, a Wii, games for all my Nintendos, a big TV, and a cell phone.  That’s what I want for Christmas.

For my brother, he would like a remote control car, and for my sister, she would a doll.  For my mom, she would like a new radio.

I think Christmas is really about spending time with your family.
